Portfolio Manager


Taylor Scott is a Portfolio Manager at Pennington Partners with more than 15 years of experience constructing and managing investment portfolios for families with significant and complex wealth. His approach combines experience across public and private markets with a focus on thoughtful asset allocation, tax efficiency, risk management, and each family’s long-term objectives.

Most recently, Taylor served as Senior Vice President and Senior Investment Manager at Truist Wealth, where he led investment strategy and portfolio design for approximately 60 ultra-high-net-worth families representing more than $1.4 billion in assets. He also served as a lead investment voice for Truist in Houston and Central Texas.

Prior to Truist, Taylor was Senior Vice President of Investments at Houston Trust Company, providing investment leadership and portfolio oversight across $9 billion in client assets. Earlier, he spent more than a decade at Sentinel Trust Company, a Houston-based multifamily office, where he progressed from equity research analyst to Senior Investment Advisor responsible for portfolio construction and implementation for 35 families representing approximately $4 billion in assets. He also oversaw the firm’s High Yield Fixed Income, International Equity, and Private Asset Proxy strategies totaling approximately $750 million.

Taylor began his career in Goldman Sachs’ Special Situations Group, evaluating primary, secondary, and distressed credit investments.

Throughout his career, Taylor has helped families navigate concentrated wealth, tax-efficient diversification, private-market investments, liquidity planning, and multigenerational portfolio objectives, with an emphasis on translating complex investment decisions into clear, actionable guidance.

Taylor earned his BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School and is a CFA charterholder.
